  • Special Author Event with After Hours Shopping: Thriller Author Panel | July 26th 4pm - 5:30pm

Location: 3214 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento, CA

We are staying open late Sunday afternoon for a very special event and shopping experience. We are hosting three incredible California thriller authors for a moderated panel all about thriller fiction.

    Rachel Ertassi https://www.instagram.com/rlertassiauthor/

Newest novel: Turn of the Tide. Thriller story set in Bodega Bay.

This is a story about death. After the devastating loss of her mother, Gia inherits a house in Bodega Bay that she has not visited in years. She and a small group of lifelong friends head up there to spend an extended weekend together and support Gia. Silent jabs, sexual tension, and secret truths begin to emerge as the weekend unfolds creating unease and volatility in the house. One catalytic event changes everything for the worst and the group begins to turn on each other one by one in this bloody thriller.

    Matt Abraham https://www.instagram.com/stocktonauthor/

Newest novel: Old Debts. Thriller story set in Stockton.

After ten long years as a private detective, Stockton native Jake Carter is finally closing his LA agency. In just a few days he’ll put the missing teens and cheating spouses behind him and join the city's corporate world full of cushy jobs and hefty paychecks. But when his former partner is found dead in a Stockton homeless camp, murdered by a ruthless serial killer who’s targeting the city’s most vulnerable population, Carter will put his dreams on hold and return to his hometown to find the madman responsible before he strikes again.

But solving this case won’t be so easy. Standing in Carter’s way is the police force he once betrayed, a vicious gang out for revenge, and a local government official with an insatiable hunger for expansion. It’s a dangerous task indeed, and his only help will come from a brilliant professor at Delta College whose mysterious past shrouds her true motivations.

    Mark Steensland  https://www.instagram.com/marksteensland/

Newest novel: Black Magic Murders. Fictional true crime story set in San Francisco.

In 1967, San Francisco was known the world over as home to the Summer of Love. Three years later, the city was paralyzed by fear as the Zodiac taunted the police with a series of threatening letters and brutal slayings. When prominent citizen Malcolm Dorrance is murdered, homicide inspectors Will Michalson and Frank Paducci eliminate the Zodiac as a suspect and narrow their focus to one man: self-professed devil-worshipper Ian Cuthgert. But instead of denying involvement, Cuthgert confesses, telling the cops he used witchcraft to murder Dorrance and he intends to kill again. Michalson dismisses this explanation as drug-induced delusion, but Paducci, a devout Catholic, is convinced Cuthgert is telling the truth. After the autopsy confirms an inexplicable cause of death, the partners race to prevent the next murder even as the conflict between their beliefs threatens to derail the entire investigation. Long overshadowed by the more prominent hunt for the Zodiac, the complete account of what would come to be known as the “Black Magic Murders” is told here for the first time by those who lived through it.

RSVP below to be entered to win a free signed copy of one of the author’s books and a gift certificate to Bloodstone Books. The winner will be able to choose which book they would like.

Enter the decadent, deadly city of Tiliard, a metropolis carved into the stump of an ancient tree. In its canopy, the pampered elite warp minds with toxic perfume; in its roots, gangs of exterminators hunt a colossal worm with an appetite for beauty.

In this complex, chaotic city, Guy Moulène has a simple goal: keep his sister out of debt. For her sake, he'll take on any job, no matter how vile.

As an exterminator, Guy hunts the uncanny creatures that crawl up from the river. These vermin are all strange, and often dangerous. His latest quarry is different: a centipede the size of a dragon with a deadly venom and a ravenous taste for artwork. As it digests Tiliard from the sewers to the opera houses, its toxin reshapes the future of the city. No sane person would hunt it, if they had the choice.

  • Special Author Event with After Hours Shopping: Redwoods Gothic Author Panel | June 23rd 6pm - 8pm

Location: 3214 Riverside Blvd, Sacramento, CA

    -*-

We are opening Tuesday night for a very special event and shopping experience. We are hosting three incredible California horror authors for a moderated panel all about a new trend in horror: Redwoods Gothic. Meet our authors and their novels:

Allison Mick’s recent novel Humboldt Cut (Saga), was described as “Redwoods Gothic,” coining a unique subgenre that already existed in the shadows. The story is a heart-wrenching exploration of generational trauma set against the disappearing logging industry.

Joshua Millican’s recent novel, a drug-turf-war-turned-creature-feature called Dopefoot (Mad Axe Media), delves into this shadowed realm by tapping into a distinctly Northern Californian frequency.

Bitter Karella’s Moonflow (Run For It) follows a trans MC who grows and sells psychedelic mushrooms for a living as she quests for the King’s Breakfast. This mushroom is also used by a forest-dwelling cult of women in strange rituals. Moonflow is a story where the unique setting feels like its own character in the novel.

RSVP below to be entered to win a free signed copy of one of the author’s books. The winner will be able to choose which book they would like.
